Pepper Lunch, Plaza Indonesia, Jakarta Indonesia
Drats. It's already here in KL and blogged about. Thot it'll be my special discovery. =,(
We were on our own last day in Jakarta. Before time for our evening flight, we went loitering around Plaza Indonesia, one of the major shopping complexes in Jakarta. The night before, gracious Datuk K had recommended we do this for lunch.
It's self service. We were a tad earlier than the lunch crowd (it was a work day but we were on holiday. Yay-yay-yay!) so the counter where orders are placed was empty.
There were screens placed strategically around the outlet demonstrating the self cook method. Otherwise, just refer to the slip of paper around one's hot pan.
Pork Chop Both were equally delicious. In the event taste is to not to par, fear not. A range of sauces is available for your personal concoction.
Can't wait to try out and compare the new outlet at our shores.

Located in Indonesia: Plaza Indonesia
Caution: Keep itchy fingers (especially kids') at a safe distance from the dishes. The super hot pans are not friendly to human flesh.

looks pretty similar to what the outlet at pavilion kl offers (except no pork chop of course, sigh). i agree it tastes surprisingly good ... i expected the meat to be bland and dry. the waitresses were also really friendly and helpful, which is always a plus. :D
Alo there, Sean. M leaving for another trip tomm. Yay!
Hope to do d porky one again.
Ahaa.. no wonder the name sounds so familiar :)
here in KL a bit pricey yeah?
but the smoke and the grease ...
not reli a fine place for dining ya?
I guess I'll have to hope over to Jakarta for the pork chops, then. :(
u going indo again? hhmm..to think that
Indo is a muslim ctry but got pork served at Pepper's but not in Msia??
Jason, tried yet?
J2Kfm, exchange rate now is even better ie RM1 to IDR3,140. Nyek nyek nyek. At Plaza Indonesia, there's an option to sit inside the outlet or outside.
Life for Beginners, *sigh* for any franchisee in that matter.
thenomadGourmand, heard they have a very posh licensed strip club. Wonder I get a peep this trip.
=D
They have pork?
lol.. ya la.. the cook for yourself part put us off, so we didn't eat there! (how lazy is that?!) anywayz, are u sure the food wasn't delicious because of your expert cooking ;P lol
sorry, i forgot to say, it's the Pavilion one I am talking about (not jakarta!)
no la its different..we dun have pork chop here :(
I will try this at PAvilion one of these days. It's quite empty though even during lunch time.
Sadly we don't have pork here. In Indonesia you can even pork in hotels, it's just labeled "Babi". Those who want to eat, go ahead while those who don't, just move on to the next item. Simple and fast, not like Malaysia, ini tak boleh itu tak halal...
For self-service the price of 70K rupiah or RM22 is reasonable esp. if the slab of meat is thick and from reputable source. Hope it will open soon over 1Utama side.
I think the most crowded one is in Plaza Indonesia. Ah... you make me craving about it :)
p.s: to thenomadgourmand: fyi, Indonesia just happened to have the biggest islam population in the world because our population is more than 240 millions people but Indonesia is not a muslim country.
gosh the pork chop look juicy n delish. how sad msia one dun hv oink oink :(
