Cheok Kee Restaurant, Lukut

Took up a friend's offer to drive Phitoy and I to Lukut for lunch last last Saturday. He recommended we visit a roadside stall selling Bak-kut-teh (Pork in Herbal Broth) which he 'discovered' a year ago. 45mins leisure drive down south on the North- South Highway brought us to an empty lot! That particular plot of land had been hoarded up. Yikes, either it had moved or just 'closed shop' for good.

Overwhelmed with 3 rumbling tummies, we just drove a little way back up the road and sat our ourselves down at this place. We took white rice with dishes they recommended:-

Bak-kut-teh. A tad too mild for us. In the background, that's the Siakap Fish steamed with Salted Soy Beans (Cheung-cheng-siakap). Gladly allowed the gravy to drown my bowl of rice. Yums.

Stir fried Potato Leaves with Garlic. Fresh. Again the gravylicious fish dish lurks at the back.We paid: RM49.00.

Location: Actually this is quite easy to find as it was along the main road. Nevertheless, I spied this across the road. For those interested, please click here and call the contact number to get better directions. I trust it's the old office as I was there before 10/04/2007, their moving date.

Wah, fish looks delicious, although I can't for the life of me figure out where/what Lukut is. I'll be satisfied just drooling at your pics for the mo.

Lyrical lemongrass, just a simple change, that's all.

10mins from Seremban, actually. Seems to be the town to visit for meals when holidaying in Port Dickson (about 15min away?). There's no good food in Port Dickson, huh?

Yum, I love steamed fish esp with cheong cheng. Sounds good. Strangely enough when we're in PD, didn't travel to Lukut to eat.

boo_licious, maybe a post on the recommended food places in PD? Would really help a lot.

sc, doubt many will purposely stop there. Afterall, it is just a relatively small quiet town. Made more so after the outbreak of the pig disease (Japanese Encephalitis) at the nearby B. Pelanduk in 1999.

kenny mah, good to support d 'cuti-cuti M'sia' campaign whenever possible.

jason, that was our fav dish during that meal!

someone who's constantly craving, my friend's hobby is driving around. I love being passenger, so win-win situation.

Haha, actually d same friend had been driving us to Gohtong Jaya since its early days for the Curry Prawns in Coconut and Guinness Ribs. Current years, we lost interest due to the much heavier traffic there and packed eating places.

pink elle, friend claimed that Lukut was THE pork center as they used to supply to the whole of M'sia & S'pore, before JE. So shd be famous for BKT. I never knew either. =P
