Su Hean Vegetarian Food, Taiping Perak

Memorable food in Taiping. Is there any? *sidestepped a pail of spring water*

Not really. *duck a pomelo*

Forgettable hawker fare or stirfried Chinese dishes. *Skipped away from a flying clay vase*

Don’t find the Indian cuisine or Malay offerings impressive either. *Blocked thrown wet lotuses – buds and seeds*

Nevertheless after relentless effort of patient locals there, I did finally found a few firm favourites in that idylic town.

*ahh.. peace ensues*

One of them is this unassuming restaurant.

Homemade Fragrant Soya Milk drink
Roast GooseAsam Fish

Can't recall what's this as it was my least favourite. =PMustard Greens stirfried with Ham stripsBill for 4 pax:-Dear all, notice the ‘V’ word in that restaurant’s name? Yessirree, no edible animals was harmed in the preparation of those dishes. No garlic was undressed and smashed either.

Ohm Ohmm Ohmmm

Restaurant sells vegetarian hawker fare in the mornings and precooked vegetarian mixed rice for lunch besides a wide variety of order to cook dishes. Oh they even have shelves stocked up with many types of tea and vegetarian foodstuff for sale.

Ohm Ohmm Ohmmm

*Collect and return all things thrown at me to make peace with the most hospitable Taiping-ites (or is it Taiping-ians?)*

hahaha .... til now, the most memorable seems to be the cendol.
dunno lah, somehow the hawker fare, including the char kuey teow with fishballs, chee cheong fun, and fried lorbakkou were all so-so only.

or maybe i was looking in the wrong direction?

heard Pokok Assam's fried chicken's deadly. Nice, that is.

Been there twice and ages ago. I heard talk of people wanting to set up retirement colonies not food. However I will vote for their special heong pah biscuits! Larut Hills is special and the ride Indiana Jones-like.

thenomadGourmand, the locals I was with refused to bring me. They were sure I'll complain the cendol not on par to my fav - Penang Road's.

J2Kfm, did the fried chicken. I was not even tempted to fake death. Err maybe it was not the same stall? =,(

worldwindows, not quite a slow and peaceful town now. A lot of traffic and heard that crime rate jumped. =,(

Kaya Kok, maybe that's why I was impressed. Esp the fish, really look a like and the texture was kinda flaky.

Life for Beginners, sex & violence sells. ;>

Nic(KHKL), those lake side trees are awesome. My pix suck. Thot better to score some point with the ONE up North by sparing everyone the eyesore. It is d season of ONE's giving & me receiving. Hohoho.

Hey, Taiping has some good stuff if you look hard. My folks are from there and speak incessantly of their chicken rice, wantan mee and whatnot. I can't say any of it's bowled me over... but their Zoo rocks!

Hi5! The night zoo rocks harder!
