Toilet post#26

A post specially dedicated to my mom.

A personal note first:-
Sorry Mom. I'll never suspect the authencity of your baby talk again. Your grasp of simulated cross borders language is way more acute than I would ever dream to emulate. I am truly humbled.

Ever notice the signages in public toilets? Next time you go overseas, do it. It may just be the subject to break ice at your next AA (Archivers Anonymous? Archievers Anonymous? Ample Anonymous? Amorous Anonymous? Anything else?) Meeting.

On a wall in a water closet within a Jakarta, Indonesia shopping mall:-
Put your hand up if you are unfamiliar with the word highlighted by me in the picture above.

I cannot see any. Good good.

Common babytalk to my family include sounds like:-

mumm-mumm (eat), shi-shi (pee), mmmm-mmmm (defecate), poot-poot (fart), bird-bird (penis).

C'mon. Do be generous and share your special cute fun nouns and verbs with me.

Hahaha.. where did you take this one? I guess every toilet in Jakarta provide it.

Let's see in bahasa:

Ma-em (eat) read: Mah-um
pss-pss (pee) read: pssshhh
e-e (defecate) read: A - a
tut-tut (fart) read: Toot - toot
titit (penis) read: Tee-teet

Selba, difference would be that sign is for all babies. Over here girls have popok, boys bird-bird. And these are never put on public signs. ;D

Could it be that popok over there in Indonesia means diaper?

Selba said...

Yes, in indonesian language (even formal one) popok means diaper :D

Selba, add a 'yong' to the sound memek ie yongmemek, it'll be my home dialect for goat!

backStreetGluttons, u said what?

Life for Beginners, who mean your mother told you it's scientific name?

Nic(KHKL), pity can't insert it into everyday conversations. =P

Can just imagine teckiee doing the shame-shame action - flicking index fingers on facial cheeks.

Cumi&ciki, bet when the time comes, you'll have a dictionary worth of new sounds.
