Time Out Cafe & Restaurant, Kuchai Lama

Another boutique-like cafe a friend & I stumbled upon a few weekends ago at the Kuchai Lama new shophouses area. Our impromptu visit to one of the few spas there lasted longer than expected as they were trying to tempt us to sign on a package at their center. We managed to 'escape' only after 2.30pm to hunt for lunch. Walking along the pavement we came across the signboard advertising set lunches outside this cafe. Reasonable prices. Tables were empty but we decided to go in anyway since the staff confirmed that the sets were still available. Hey, growling tummies need to be urgently attended to and set meals are known to be fast. Okay okay we were tempted by the good price too. Here's what we had for RM9.90 each (excluding the 5% service charge):-

Ice lemon Tea (not bad) & salad as starter (fresh but a tad too creamy)
Pumpkin soupBlack Pepper Udon (I had this. A generous portion)

Bolognaise (chicken) Spaggetti. Friend's order which she commented was good. Also a generous portion.

No idea whether the big portions were its norm or because it was late. Well only two ways to find out :- I find the chance to try again soon or you try & tell me.

A dollop of ice-cream for each of us. Looks small but we were happy with it since we were really stuffed with our respective noodles. Our bill:-

RM9.90 seems pretty reasonable. I like pumpkin soup. More importantly, how was the spa? :-D

Very good deal. Black pepper udon, yumzz..my favourite. Luckily, it's only 15 mins away from lunch.

That sounds pretty reasonable! And their food looks equally mouth-watering too

meiyen, sorry but did not really notice the surrounding. It was very sunny & hot outside so we almost ran in & out to the car after meal. It's located at the new shoplots infront of Big Eater which I featured before. Maybe u can call for directions?

lyrical lemongrass, the bodyscrub & sauna was divine but I left with a gloomy look. In d midst of introducing their relaxation & slimming packages, BMI & the works were done on us. Obese with body physics/works of an old lady, that's me! My friend did very much better. Boo.

But obviously that did nothing to squelch my appetite. =P

precious pea, extra hot-hot pls!

jason, it is!

Tummythoz, spas should be left as such...a place for massage and relaxation. Not for calculating BMI! That's a turn off. I've experienced some good spas and will be happy to give u some recommendations. In a different topic, of course. hehe. In the meantime, eat on.

lyrical lemongrass, will contact u for that! Mucho gracias.

ooh tummy, don't u love that pepper steak udon noodles ? very popular here too at the Kong Sik style restaurants, served on sizzling plates, yums !! :)

melting wok, here in KL the steak and udon noodles are usually separate orders/dishes. But then again, maybe the Hongkong style cafes do though I've not come across one yet. I bet it must be drool worthy. Make mine extra peppery pls!

went to "cheungfat" with my cousins during cny and sorry to say that no pictures were taken hence no review on this rest :( that day, we had da usual chinese course dishes and they were not bad at all! another thing, they serve various kinds of interesting seafood.. think maybe you can try it out and let me know if they are good cause da price seems to be quite reasonable compare to other places..
