"Lepaking" at Pulau Kapas, Terengganu

Fly away budget holidays often starts this way:-Then off to the island!Bet most haven’t been here, that is if any of you have heard of this small local island. Redang, Lang Tengah and further away islands are definitely more well known. Though it is only a mere 15 minutes boat ride away from the Marang Jetty (45 minutes cab ride from Kuala Terengganu Airport), it is beautiful! Here, start the oohs and ahhs:-This was where I stayed:-Poorly maintained chalets giving the rustic feel.NO hot showers but I do enjoy showering under the sun. Catch the al-fresco WC here.

Electricity at this resort is only available from 7pm to 7am only. So activities would include snooping around, hoping for an adventure, snorkelling (RM30 for gear and boat ride, flexible length of time as July is the super low season),do justice to newly bought novels, baking, and round the clock slapping.
There. Another local island I've stamped my footprint on.Transportation cost of the trip:-
RM135 Air Asia return ticket for one
RM 50 taxi fare to Marang Jetty
RM 40 return boat ride from Marang Jetty - Pulau Kapas
RM 50 special rate voucher for chalet per night

Food & beverages post coming up next!

That’s Gem Island nearby. Heard the exclusive resort there is way classier.
Hmm maybe soon..

I was there in 1990 fro a day outing. No accommodation as yet then. The waters were quite nice for snorkeling. Languid squids floating by. Fishes swam by in schools. Hope the beach and sea is as good.

j2kfm, whoa boy. U know my posting speed is wayyy below yours.

cumi & ciki, I was lucky. Not only were the mossies very visible & slow, one of my companions is a mossie magnet. Hehe.

wmw, I'm still reeling from your Egyptian posts!

Njoe, wish you solid bods & bikinis.

Looks like a good place to kick back and relax. Btw, wat are those stuff on the floor?

jason, under 'around the clock slapping'? Murdered mosquitoes on verandah rail. We were competing to see whose line is longest.

Beautiful! Great place to unwind. Those things on the bay look like a lot of giant corks! LOL

Hello, first time visiting. :)

Tummythoz said...

Welcome cc! Those corks form a retention wall at Marang Jetty.

Wow such colourful Bungy Land pix you have over at your blog!

When are you going to the other island?? Gem Island?? I heard it's another place like Pangkor Laut.

ah, memories. i was first in kapas in 1992, (were you born?), and it was already infested with sea urchin. pulau gemia (before they glammed it up to pulau gem) next door was much better, and the South China Sea fronting side had good coral life and was free of urchin. how? these days got sea urchin?

Tummythoz said...

*waving baby rattle at fatboybakes* I'll take that as a compliment. TQ.
No menacing urchins (maybe fished for Jap cuisine?) but plenty of mama papa baby jellyfish.

we had a short overnight at Qimi Chalet facing Gem island. Lots of mosquitos and water not so good low tide. but great for a hideaway ( and romance )

beware of loose corals and stones !

our Malaysian tourism spots are getting quite bad lately ( actually really bad). enjoy whats left of it !

Tummythoz said...

backstreetgluttons, when was your trip? Don't remember as many mozzies on other islands eg Redang, Perhentian etc.

Very sad as Malaysia does have so very much more to offer.

O.o
Mosquitoes?? They look so... BIG!

PureGlutton said...

Hehe...sounds like a real fun beach getaway with very interesting activities! Rustic, back-to-basics, natural...wahh, how to tahan no electricity for most part of the day??

Christina Kim said...

Hmmm....nice place but not for me though...hahah, rustic, no electricity, and such big monster-looking insects which I don't think are mosquitoes...unless they blew up in proportion over here in this part of the world...hehe:D

jason & christy, lucky for us those blood suckers were clumsy so easy to spot & swat. We sinned many times over.

pureglutton, no radio, no TV, no artificial air coolers. Very Q-U-I-E-T afternoons if one can ignore the birds, insects and soft breaking waves.
