Mei Keng Fatt Seafood Restaurant Sdn Bhd, Ampang

My loyal camera took this. Pre-Sabah trip. *sigh*

Although the prices are known to be higher than the usual Chinese seafood restaurants scattered around KL town (oops, city), it used to be a default place for seafood in our neighbourhood especially when entertainig guests. For the observant ones, I did mention 'used to be' because a new restaurant just opened on the other side of our residence within the same vicinity which offers slightly better prices. Will post this later. Now, let's refocus on this expatriates', mostly Koreans, favourite Chinese restaurant. Hey, I bumped into Rain there, k! Pity I didn't hit his ravishing abs. *sigh dreamily*

I should have photographed the so many dishes tried here but always thought there will be a next time. I'll start now and if I do take others, there will be part 2, 3, 4 so on so forth.Don't you agree that this is such a novel idea to advertise the recommended dishes?

3 pax but only ordered 2 steamed white rice to go with:-

Salt and Pepper Prawns. A sweet chilie dip accompanied. Delicious fresh succulent 50sen coin sized prawns. Yummy. Then again, we have never gone wrong ordering prawns dishes here before.Crab Meat Beancurd. After that savoury prawns, this tasted bland.Stirfried Kailan Greens with Garlic Slices.Salted Egg Yolk Crabs. The restaurant specialises in Sri Lankan Crabs so do expect big meaty claws. *drools*This was complimentary. A number of times, we succeeded in hustling for mangoes. =DThe bill:-So was it on the high side?

The address/contact number:-No help? Check this well maintained website out!

jackson, u are right. But the crabs are it's specialty so almost all tables will order it, prepared in various ways.

Any seafood looks good to me! Mmmm, love those crabs and prawns. Is that the normal price for a crab dish?

woksandspoon, usually coffeeshop restaurants here charges around RM23 per kg while bigger establishments, RM35 per kg for local mud crabs. As for this type, I'll need to check & revert.

lyrical lemongrass, me too but can get quite 'jelak' (err.. nauseating?) if too much, no?

babe_kl, so does the price!

kampungboycitygal, they claim d crabs are top notch. High prices not a deterrent to the majority of their clients - expatriates & celebrities.

fezzaboy, here here don't shout. *stick rolls of tissue into his mouth*

judy, I rather have chit-pah-bhan!

kok, aiyoyo it's the rage now. Every seafood restaurant will promote it as their specialty dish. Err.. I haven't had d chicken version though.

new kid on the blog, mine all mine! Muahahaha.

boo_licious, now not so popular as many seafood restaurants have sprouted.

meiyen, let me repeat. Mine all mine. Muahahaha!

You serious?? Wah, then I must really try liao leh. The chicken not bad also lah. I tried it at Melbourne though. (I wonder how much salted eggs needed for one of those salted egg yolk dish.)

Tummythoz said...

kok, they'll mash all the yolks together in a big bowl estimated for that day's business & scoop d amount when stir frying.

ohh, the crab meat beancurd looks good. At least something different from the usual seafood.

Tummythoz said...

teckiee, they add cereal for crunchy bites.

xiu long bao, the gravy good with rice but must take this before any heavily flavoured dish.
